Eating for Your Training: Fuel Rules That Work
You cannot out-train an empty tank. Food is training fuel first and everything else second: eat too little and sessions feel heavy; eat chaotically and recovery stalls.
Anchor every day with protein
Aim for a palm-sized portion of protein at each meal. It preserves the muscle your sessions are building and keeps hunger steady through the afternoon, when most snacking damage happens.
Time carbohydrates around training
Eat the bulk of your carbohydrates in the meals before and after hard sessions, when your body puts them straight to work. On rest days, lean toward vegetables, protein, and healthy fats.
Drink water before you feel thirsty, keep caffeine before noon, and treat the occasional shared dessert as part of the plan. The best nutrition rules are the ones you forget you are following.
